Inline with the Black Economic Empowerment Act of the Republic of South Africa and the Charter for the South African Petroleum And Liquid Fuels Industry, Lakhile aims to ensure that the following objectives are achieved:

• Shareholding – Remains in the hands of Historically Disadvantaged Individuals (“HDI”). The company is wholly owned by HDIs, women and youth.
• Employment Equity – Employees to be majority HDI
• All management positions are held by HDIs.
• Procurement – Majority of products procured in operations are sourced from Black Empowered or Black Owned companies.
• Capacity Building/Broad Based Empowerment – In the long term three percent of the net profits of the business will channeled towards providing engineering bursaries to deserving black students from the Mpumalanga and Eastern Cape provinces.
